Editorial Standards

Glitchwire is an independent digital news publication. This page describes how we cover stories, how we handle errors, and how readers can reach us. It is updated as our practices evolve.

Independence

Glitchwire is editorially independent. We accept no sponsored editorial content — nobody pays us to write an article, to write it a particular way, or to have an article withheld. We have no protocol or platform funding tied to coverage. The publication is owned and operated by Blokhaus Inc., but coverage decisions are made by the editor.

We may at times cover companies whose products we use or have used. When this is meaningfully relevant to a story, we disclose it inline.

How we make money

Being straightforward about this matters more than sounding pure, so here is the whole list.

Advertising. We run display advertising, and we sell ad placements directly to advertisers. Advertisers buy space on the site. They do not buy coverage, they get no advance notice of what we are publishing, and they have no input into any article. An advertiser being an advertiser is neither a reason to cover them nor a reason not to.

Affiliate links. When we mention a product you can buy, that link may be an affiliate link, which means we earn a small commission if you purchase through it — at no additional cost to you. Any article containing affiliate links says so at the top of the article, and every such link is tagged so it is machine-readable as a paid link.

Two commitments about affiliate links specifically, because this is where publishers most often go wrong:

  • Commission rates never influence which products we cover, what we say about them, or how we rank them. We do not choose the product that pays better.
  • We do not add a link for the sake of the commission. If a link does not help you, it does not belong in the article.

If you would rather not contribute, visiting the retailer directly instead of using our link costs you nothing and works exactly the same.

Sourcing

Where possible, we link to primary sources: company press releases, product pages, official announcements, regulatory filings, and original research papers. When a fact is sourced from another publication, we attribute it explicitly and link to that publication. We do not paraphrase reporting from other outlets without attribution.

When we cannot independently verify a claim, we say so. Phrases like “according to,” “as reported by,” “the company says,” and “details remain unconfirmed” indicate sourcing. Readers should be able to trace any factual claim back to a primary or attributed secondary source.

Editorial Process

Articles are written, edited, and fact-checked by a human editor. As part of our workflow, we use modern editorial tools, which include AI in some capacity for research aggregation and drafting. The editorial work itself, including framing, judgment, sourcing decisions, and final review and approval, is human.

No article is published without editorial review. Facts are verified against primary sources before publication. Errors that escape this process are corrected per our Corrections Policy below.

Coverage Areas

Glitchwire covers artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency, technology, science, energy, policy, finance, security, gadgets, and digital culture. Stories outside these areas are generally not covered.

Corrections Policy

We correct errors as soon as they are identified. There are three kinds of corrections:

  1. Material factual errors (incorrect specifications, dates, names, prices, quotes) are corrected inline, with an editor's note appended noting what was changed and when.
  2. Significant interpretation changes (where additional information substantially changes how a story should be understood) are addressed with an update note and a timestamp.
  3. Minor edits (typographical errors, formatting issues, broken links) are corrected silently.
